One of the best ways to get the nutrients your body needs and to get down your daily dose of those yucky greens, is to make a great tasting smoothie with everything you need. In a smoothie, you can control what goes into it and how it tastes. Here's our favorite...
Two handfuls of Greens
Make sure to wash first! We like to use kale and spinach the most. But pile on the greens!
1/4 Cup of Almond Milk
Use unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk
1 Frozen Banana
We like to put in about 3/4 to a full frozen banana.
1 to 1.5 cup of other frozen fruit
We like to buy organic fruit and then freeze it ourselves. We've already put in a frozen banana, so when it comes to other fruit we specifically like strawberries and peaches the most. But, this is totally personal preference and there's tons of fruits that can make your smoothie taste great. Just remember while there's plenty of good stuff in fruit they do have some natural sugar, and this is called the "Greenie Smoothie", so too much fruit and the sugar, even though natural, can add up.
1/4 Cup Greek Yogurt
This can be substituted out if you prefer, but we like it because of the probiotics and protein. Just keep in mind, want to keep it a non-fat greek yogurt and watch the sugar amount in it. Many yogurts can contain tons of added sugar.
1 Tablespoon of Hemp Seed
Can contain lots of healthy fats as well as fairly significant amounts of vitamin E. Other key nutrients and minerals that hemp seed can provide include phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc.
2 Tablespoon of Collagen Protein
We use Collagen Protein in our smoothie, but you can substitute this with any other kind of protein powder you prefer, such as a whey protein. We just suggest not to overload it with protein, you want to find your happy balance with the rest of your diet. While protein is vital, especially for athletes or those we are active, the body may turn excess amounts of protein into fat.
1/2 Dropper of Hari Om Hemp Full Spectrum CBD Oil
We put a half dropper of our 350mg Full Spectrum Hemp derived CBD oil in our smoothie. If you have the 700mg, then just a 1/4 of dropper will do just fine. Again, everyone is a little different so you may play with the amount you put in your smoothie and also consider and take into account when you have taken your other doses.
Hopefully, this is a good start for incorporating a green smoothie into your daily diet and routine. They are great especially on the go. Feel free to tweak to your personal liking or even add other ingredients to it.
