4 Ways to Create a Healing Bath Ritual this Winter Season

A bath ritual is a perfect way to elevate your typical bathing experience. 

For centuries, cultures around the world have enjoyed their own version of a bath for their natural healing properties and therapeutic effects.  Creating a scared space and time for yourself and immersing your body in water can be deeply relaxing and transformative.

It’s a great routine to create for yourself to have an evening with a bath ritual. If you or a loved one is dealing with stressful days, before going out for the evening, or to celebrate the New and Full Moons.

Here are 4 ways to create a very healing bath ritual.


What is a Bath Ritual?

What makes a regular bath different than a bath ritual?

The key difference is the word “ritual”. When you create a ritual out of something, you make it a sacred and spiritual experience for yourself. This is an important routine to add to your life if you are searching for ways to keep calm or reset.


#1: Choose an intention for your bath

Is there something that you want to release or let go of? How do you want to feel when you leave this bath ritual?

Take a few minutes to close your eyes and meditate on it if you are unsure.  If you do know what you are trying to release, take time to focus on how you feel, what is in your power, and how you want to feel after this meditation.


#2: Pour yourself a drink

Have a glass of wine, hot cup of tea, or something sweet to keep you cozy throughout your bath.

If you are taking a bath with the intent to wind down before bed, it’s best to avoid alcohol or caffeine. Herbal hot teas or hot chocolate would be good alternatives.

Maybe even prepare a small snack - do whatever feels right for this moment.
